Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Partner Faraz Alam Sagar has left the firm and is joining CMS INDUSLAW as an Equity Partner, and Head of Dispute Resolution & White-Collar Crimes, in its Mumbai Office.
Sagar is a 2006 graduate of Symbiosis Law School, Pune. He earned his Master of Business Laws from National Law School of India University and his LLM in Finance Laws from Goethe University Frankfurt. He is a Permanent Member of the Bombay Bar Association.
Sagar has spent over two decades navigating complex, multi-jurisdictional matters, advising and representing clients across jurisdictions. He has advised governments, multinational corporations, and high-net-worth individuals across a range of contentious and non-contentious mandates, with particular focus on cross-border disputes, trade remedies, sanctions and regulatory enforcement. His practice is recognised for its sustained record of handling matters that engage both Indian law and international legal frameworks — often simultaneously and at significant scale.
Prior to his move, Sagar was associated with Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas for over 8 years, where he held the position of a Partner and Co-head of White Collar, Investigations & Sanctions practice. In the past, he has also worked with leading international firms, including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and PricewaterhouseCoopers (Frankfurt).
At CMS INDUSLAW, Sagar will be leading the firm’s practice in cross-border litigation, regulatory investigations, white-collar crime, corporate and forensic investigations, and international sanctions and sanctions advisory.
On Sagar's joining, Avimukt Dar and Suneeth Katarki (Founding & Senior Partners) said in a joint statement,
“Faraz brings rare experience at the intersection of disputes, investigations, sanctions and regulatory risk. His addition will further strengthen our ability to advise clients on complex international arbitration and litigation.”
Sagar himself shared,
“I am deeply grateful for my time at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas. As I embark on this new journey at CMS INDUSLAW, I look forward to expanding Firm’s international practice across the region and bringing world-class expertise to clients navigating complex cross-border matters.”
CMS INDUSLAW has now joined a list of Firms who have recently made lateral hires from CAM, with AZB & Partners onboarding five Partners, and Anagram Partners snapping up two.
