Former Naik Naik Equity Partner Ravi Suryawanshi forms “Bar and Brief Attorneys” after 3 years of independent practice

Advocate Ravi Suryawanshi has formed Bar & Brief Attorneys, a Mumbai-based full-service law firm with specialisation in litigation and non-litigation matters in the Media & Entertainment sector.

With the addition of new partners, the firm has expanded its practice into the Commercial, Corporate & Company Secretarial verticals.

The partners of Bar & Brief Attorneys bring to the table decades of experience and have served and continue to serve some of the leading names in media and entertainment. They have been part of teams that have resolved some landmark cases.

Suryawanshi had served the media and entertainment industry first as an Equity Partner in Naik, Naik & Company, after which he established his independent practice in October 2018, under the name Ravi Suryawanshi & Associates, Advocates.

He is a graduate of ILS Law College, Pune. He began his career and litigation practice with Senior Advocate P Narayan in Pune. He then moved to Mumbai and joined Naik Naik & Co, where he worked for over 13 years.

Arpit Choudhary, a law graduate from GLC, Mumbai, has now been promoted as a Partner. He had joined Ravi Suryawanshi & Associates in 2020.

Prior to joining Ravi Suryawanshi, Choudhary worked with Sony Pictures Networks India, Naik Naik & Co, and Zee Entertainment, among others. He was also a part of Suryawanshi’s team at Naik Naik & Co.

Additionally, Priyanka Suryawanshi has joined the firm as a Partner from Citibank NA, where she was Senior Vice-President of the Asia Pacific Treasury and Trade Solutions team.

She has over 15 years of professional involvement after completing her dual LL.M. from New York University and National University of Singapore. She has expertise in Corporate & Commercial laws in the Hospitality, Financial, Banking and Telecom sectors.

Lakshmisree Chakraborty has joined the firm as a senior consultant and will head its Corporate Secretarial Practice. She holds MSc, ACS and LL.B degrees, and has almost two decades of extensive experience across Company Secretary firms, large corporates and MNCs. She joins the firm from Vodafone Idea, where she was responsible for company law compliances for the subsidiaries of Vodafone Idea Limited.

Prior to her time at Vodafone, she was the Legal Head and Company Secretary for YOU Broadband India Limited, overseeing the Company Law and FEMA compliances. She was instrumental in the acquisition of YOU by Vodafone India Limited in 2017.

Apart from the partners, Advocate Tejas Chavan has also recently joined as Principal Associate. He has previously worked with Jio Studios, Jio Saavn, Naik Naik & Company, and Singh & Singh and Malhotra & Hegde.
