Roshan D’Souza has joined Saga Legal as a Partner in Bengaluru to strengthen and deepen the Firm's disputes and financial regulatory practice.

D'Souza is a 2006 graduate of S.D.M. Law College, Mangalore

He has over two decades of experience in debt recovery, securitisation, insolvency, and bankruptcy law. His practice spans a wide spectrum of contentious matters, including financial disputes, insolvency, commercial litigation, regulatory proceedings, and arbitration.

Having worked in-house with organisations such as AstorMueller, Reliance Infrastructure, and Reliance Capital, D'Souza has a nuanced understanding of how businesses evaluate risk, make strategic decisions, and approach disputes from a commercial standpoint.

In addition, his experience of independently running his own practice has further shaped his ability to combine legal strategy with practical execution and client-centric thinking. He has appeared extensively before the Bombay High Court, Debt Recovery Tribunals, and NCLTs, and has been involved in a range of complex and high-value matters. His practice also includes commercial arbitration and regulatory proceedings before authorities such as the RBI and the SEBI.

Prior to his move to Saga Legal, D'Souza was a Senior Legal Counsel at AstorMueller for a year and a half.

At Saga Legal, he will work closely with the Firm’s leadership and cross-office teams to further strengthen the Firm’s disputes offering across sectors and forums.

Commenting on the induction, Gaurav Nair and Sanika Mehra, Managing Partners at Saga Legal, said,

“Roshan’s addition is very much aligned with the kind of practice we are consciously building at Saga Legal. What stood out to us is not just his depth in disputes, but the breadth of his experience, particularly his time in-house and his entrepreneurial journey. That combination gives him a very clear understanding of how clients think, how decisions are made within organisations, and what truly matters when navigating complex situations. His advice is therefore not just legally sound, but also commercially grounded and practical. This lateral hire comes at a time when we are focusing on strengthening our bench with practitioners who bring not only legal expertise, but also a strong understanding of the commercial and operational realities that underpin complex disputes. As we continue to strengthen our presence in Bengaluru and build a cohesive, multi-city disputes platform, Roshan’s experience and approach add a valuable dimension to the firm.”

Commenting on his joining, D’Souza said,

“Saga Legal’s growth journey and the clarity of its vision strongly resonated with me. The firm has built a solid foundation across dispute resolution and corporate advisory, and I see a clear opportunity to further strengthen its financial disputes and insolvency practice in a meaningful way. Over the years, my focus has been on helping clients navigate complex enforcement and insolvency scenarios in a manner that is both legally sound and commercially viable. I look forward to bringing that experience to Saga Legal, and to working closely with the team to build a practice that is responsive to the evolving needs of financial institutions, corporates, and investors in today’s regulatory environment.”

With D'Souza's onboarding, Saga Legal now has a strength of 10 Partners.
