[Exclusive] Uber Director of Legal Kanishk leaves to join Google as India Legal Head

Uber Director of Legal Kanishk has resigned and is moving to Google as India Legal Head.

Google confirmed to Bar & Bench that he will join the tech giant in September 2026.

Kanishk is a 2007 alumnus of the West Bengal National University of Juridical Services (WBNUJS) Kolkata.

With nearly two decades of experience, he specialises in mergers & acquisitions, defence procurement and general corporate advisory.

He started his career at the erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas, before moving on to Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, spending a cumulative 15 years at the firms. Kanishk switched to an in-house role in 2022, joining Uber as Director of Legal for India, SA & SEA.

Earlier this year, Google's Head of Legal, Bijoya Roy had resigned within 16 months ​of joining.
