Delhi Court directs Police to issue 10 day pre-arrest notice to Shehla Rashid, disposes of anticipatory bail plea

A Delhi Court at the Patiala Court Complex today disposed of the anticipatory bail plea filed by Shehla Rashid, in connection with a sedition FIR, with a direction to Delhi police to issue a 10 day pre-arrest notice to her, in case the need to arrest her arises..The FIR was registered against Rashid by the Delhi Police earlier this year for her August 17 tweets on the state of Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution..The FIR was registered pursuant to a complaint to the Delhi Police Special Cell by an Advocate, Alakh Alok Srivastava, under Sections 124A, 153A, 153, 504 and 505 of the Indian Penal Code..The order was passed by the Court of Additional Sessions Judge Satish Kumar Arora after the Delhi Police informed the Court that the investigation in the FIR was at a preliminary stage..“Keeping in view the nature of allegations and also considering the submissions of the IO that the investigation is at a preliminary stage, the anticipatory bail plea is disposed of with a direction to the IO that if the need arises for arrest.., she be issued a 10 days pre-arrest notice.“, the order reads..In her series of tweets, Rashid claimed that the armed forces were torturing civilians and that they ransacked houses in Jammu & Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India..The Court of Additional Sessions Judge Pawan Kumar Jain had granted interim protection from arrest to Shehla Rashid on the day the application for anticipatory bail was moved in September..[Read the Order]
