Delhi High Court Justice Prathiba M Singh appointed Chair of WIPO's Advisory Board of Judges

Justice Prathiba M Singh of the Delhi High Court has been appointed the Chair of the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) Advisory Board of Judges for the 2025–2027 term.

WIPO's Advisory Board of Judges is a high-level international body composed of judges from different countries who have expertise in intellectual property (IP) law. It plays a key role in guiding WIPO’s Judiciaries Programme, which focuses on strengthening the capacity and cooperation of courts and judges worldwide in handling IP-related cases.

Justice Singh was elevated as a permanent judge of the Delhi High Court in 2017. She was the Chairperson of Delhi High Court's first Intellectual Property (IP) Division for the 2021-22 Session and was also its presiding judge.

Before her elevation to the bench in 2017, Justice Singh had an illustrious career as a leading IP lawyer, representing major cases in patents, trademarks, and copyright. She is a graduate of University Law College, Bangalore and a Cambridge scholar.

WIPO noted that Justice Singh is currently serving as the co-chair of the Working Group on Regulatory Consideration on AI in Health, formed by the World Health Organisation.

According to WIPO,

"Justice Singh authored India’s first comprehensive commentary on patent law, titled “Prathiba M. Singh on Patent Law”. Her honors include Managing IP’s Asia Women in Business Law Award, and she was selected among the 50 most influential people in IP for 2021 and 2022."
