From Wednesday onwards, the Delhi High Court will have an electronic inspection portal that will facilitate online inspection of digitised judicial files..The first-of-its-kind software was launched today by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, at an event organised by the High Court. "Earlier, young members of the Bar had to wait for hours to inspect files. The e-inspection software will do that in an instant. Inspection can now happen from any location, saving time and reducing unnecessary burden. It is a step in the right direction of a sustainable transformation of the justice delivery system. The next step will be implementing this in all the High Courts, the Supreme Court, and most importantly, the district courts," the CJI said. .The Delhi High Court's Justice Rajiv Shakdher, who is also the Chairperson of the IT Committee, said that one can now inspect entire digitised files while sitting at home."There will be an added advantage of storing that file in a PDF format. We would literally be on the same page.".A notice issued by the High Court in this regard states that any advocate or litigant who is already registered on the High Court's e-filing portal, can avail of the facility. The fee has been set at ₹5 per application form. Upon scrutiny and verification of the uploaded application forms, inspection branch officials will then upload them in PDF format and send advocates access to the same on email, which will be available for five days. The time taken would be three working days not including the day on which the form was submitted.
