Delhi High Court picks Anu Grover Baliga as special judge for paper leak cases in fast-track court

The Delhi High Court has designated Judge Anu Grover Baliga as a special judge to deal with criminal cases arising out of paper leaks and the use of unfair means in public examinations.

A notification to this effect was issued by the High Court on Thursday evening.

Judge Baliga was posted as judge-in-charge, Mediation Centre, Central District at Tis Hazari Courts.

Her new designation will be "Special Judge (PC Act) (CBl)-25, (Specially Designated Fast Track Court), to try the offences under Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 and connected offences." The judge will hold court at the Rouse Avenue Court Complex.

The High Court notification came on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcing the decision this morning to set up fast-track courts "to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leaks".

The decision to set up special courts came as student protests spread across the country over paper leaks. Students and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) have also been protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and demanding the resignation of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
