Delhi High Court quashes FIRs between neighbours over pet fight; asks them to serve pizza, buttermilk to kids

The Delhi High Court recently ordered warring neighbours to serve pizzas and buttermilk to children and staff in a government-run childcare institution as a condition to quash police cases filed against each other [Arvind Kumar and Others v The State and Another].

Justice Arun Monga directed that the parties must serve Amul Chaach Tetra Pack along with mixed vegetable pizzas at Sanskar Ashram near GTB Hospital. 

“Each inmate and the attendants and other staff of the Ashram shall be served one Pizza along with Amul Chaach Tetra Pack. The Pizzas shall be baked by the complainant in the FIR No.220/2025 dated 05.05.2025 registered at P.S. Mansarovar Park and the same shall be treated as the community service to be jointly carried out by all the complainants and the accused by serving the same,” the Court ordered. 

Justice Monga passed the order while hearing two petitions seeking quashing of cross-FIRs filed after a quarrel over pet handling spiralled into a scuffle. Both parties had accused each other of assault, intimidation and misbehaviour during the altercation. 

However, they informed the Court that the matter was later amicably resolved through a settlement. 

After considering the case, the High Court acknowledged that the fight was a private matter between neighbours and that continuing criminal cases would serve no useful purpose. 

During the proceedings, the Court noted that one of the complainants in the case was involved in baking and selling pizzas. 

Therefore, the Court ordered the two sides to serve the pizzas and buttermilk to the children. 

It further directed the investigating officer of the case to ensure compliance with the court orders. 

Petitioners Arvind Kumar and others were represented by advocates Naveen Kumar Thakur, Satendar, Ram Kumar, Uttam Kumar and Sonu Kumar.

Petitioners Pratham Vishnoi and others were represented by advocates Deepak Kumar and Satendar Chauhan. 

The State was represented by Additional Standing Counsel (Criminal) Rahul Tyagi, assisted by Sangeet Sibou, Priyansh Raj Singh Senger and Aniket Kumar Singh.
