Delhi High Court to pass orders for takedown of obscene, derogatory material against actor-politician Ravi Kishan

The Delhi High Court today said that it will pass an interim order directing the takedown of obscene and derogatory content against actor and politician Ravi Kishan..Justice Jyoti Singh was dealing with a plea moved by Kishan seeking the protection of his personality rights. Kishan had sought the takedown of AI-generated pornographic and other derogatory content. The Court said it will direct various defendants and social media intermediaries to take down such objectionable content.The Court added that Google must take down web links to such content flagged by Kishan if the entity/ person responsible for its upload fails to remove them within one week from receiving a copy of the order..Senior advocate N Hariharan, representing Kishan, today told the Court that obscene and pornographic material and derogatory Instagram reels have been circulating on the internet without his consent. "The aforesaid Defendants are wrongfully exploiting the Plaintiff's celebrity status, goodwill, and public persona to draw traffic to their respective websites, thereby deriving financial benefit," Kishan's plea had stated.Kishan also sought the removal of a radio segment on Ishq 104.8 FM called 'What is Love with Kavi Kishan.' He contended that the segment violated his rights by using his name, image and likeness for commercial purposes without his authorisation. He added that an Al-generated video featuring his mock imitation could also be found on IshqFM's official Instagram account.The Court proceeded to indicate that it will pass a detailed order for the takedown of content that appears to violate Kishan's rights.
