First National Lok Adalat of 2026 to be held across country on March 14

The event will be conducted under the leadership of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and NALSA Executive Chairman Justice Vikram Nath.

The first National Lok Adalat of 2026 is set to be organised across the country on March 14, 2026, under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).

The National Lok Adalat will be held across High Courts, District Courts, Tribunals, Consumer Forums and Permanent Lok Adalats throughout the country on March 14, except in three States.

In Delhi, the Lok Adalat will be held on March 22, 2026. In Telangana, it will be held on March 28. In West Bengal as well, it will be organised on a later date.

The upcoming National Lok Adalat will address a wide range of disputes at both pre-litigation and litigation stages, including:

• Criminal compoundable offences

• Traffic challans

• Plea bargaining matters

• Revenue cases

• Bank recovery matters

• Motor accident claims

• Cheque dishonour cases

• Service matters (including pension matters)

• Matrimonial disputes (excluding divorce cases)

• Succession matters

• Land acquisition cases

• Labour disputes

• Arbitration matters

• Consumer cases

• Electricity bill disputes

• Water bill disputes

• Telephone bill disputes

According to the NALSA, four National Lok Adalats held in 2025 together resolved over 14.84 crore cases. In 2024, over 10.45 crore cases were settled through National Lok Adalats.

NALSA also indicated that the upcoming Lok Adalats will focus on addressing case pendency reflected in the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) as part of efforts to reduce the backlog of cases in courts.
