Government clears transfer of Justice Suman Shyam from Gauhati to Bombay High Court

In its meeting held on May 26, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended his transfer.

The Central government on Monday notified the transfer of Justice Suman Shyam from the Gauhati High Court to the Bombay High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his transfer on May 26.

This was cleared by the government on Monday.

Justice Shaym enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of Assam on September 3, 1996.

He primarily practiced civil law, handling constitutional matters, arbitration, and service-related cases. He appeared before the Gauhati High Court at the Principal Seat, its outlying benches and original side civil courts.

He also served as the Secretary of the Indian Law Institute's Assam Chapter from September 29, 2010 until his elevation as a judge. Additionally, he was appointed as Standing Counsel for the Gauhati High Court and various public sector undertakings.

He was elevated as an additional judge of the Gauhati High Court on January 7, 2015 and was made a permanent Judge on January 3, 2017.
