A man in Gujarat's Godhra has reportedly been arrested for allegedly attempting to offer a bribe to a Labor court judge during an ongoing case. .Deccan Herald reported that the accused, one Bapubhai Solanki who is a resident of Virpur taluka in Mahisagar district, allegedly tried to pay ₹35,000 as bribe to the labor court Judge HA Maka by placing a sealed cover on the judicial officer's table. .The judge reported the incident to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) after which a case was filed under Section 8 (Offence relating to bribing of a public servant) of the Prevention of Corruption Act leading to Solanki's arrest. .According to India Today, following his dismissal from the Bhadar Canal Distribution Sub-Division under the Panam Yojana, Solanki had been involved in a legal dispute since 2023. Frustrated by the prolonged delays in his case, he resorted to an illegal attempt to expedite his case by attempting to hand over an envelope to Judge Maka. The judge declined to accept it and instructed Solanki to open the envelope, which contained cash worth ₹35,000..Solanki committed the illegal act in an attempt to ensure that his case would be heard on the next hearing date on December 12. An ACB official has stated that the procedure to appoint two government Panch witnesses to seize the bribe money and obtain CCTV footage from the labor court as part of the investigation is underway.
