The Central government has cleared appointment of judicial officer Ashish Naithani as a judge of the Uttarakhand High Court..The Union Law Minister of State (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal tweeted the development.The Supreme Court Collegium in December, 2024 had recommended name of Naithani to be appointed as a judge..The decision was taken at a December 22 meeting of the Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna.This recommendation has now been cleared by the Union government.The Uttarakhand High Court, which has a sanctioned strength of 11 judges, is currently functioning with 6 judges, leaving 5 vacancies..[Read Notification]
