Justice Taj Ali Moulasab Nadaf sworn in as Karnataka High Court judge

Justice Taj Ali Moulasab Nadaf was sworn in as an additional judge of the Karnataka High Court on Monday morning. .Chief Justice NV Anjaria administered the oath of office to Justice Nadaf in a ceremony attended by other High Court judges and lawyers, including the Chairman of the State Bar Council of Karnataka Vishalaraghu HL, who presented a welcome address. In a brief speech, Justice Nadaf thanked several persons, including the Supreme Court and High Court Collegium members who recommended him for appointment as a judge, his family members, teachers and various lawyers for their support during his legal career. He sought the guidance and cooperation of both the Bar and the Bench in his future journey as a judge. "An opportunity has come to me to serve this great institution. I seek the guidance of Hon'ble Chief Justice, Shri NV Anjaria and esteemed brother and sister judges in my future endeavours. I shall strive hard to uphold the traditions of this great institution. I take this opportunity to seek the cooperation of the members of the Bar to enable to discharge my duties true to the oath I have taken. I shall strive hard and put forth my sincere efforts with dignity consistent with the high traditions set by our illustrious predecessors and meet the exacting demands of a judge to the best of my abilities. I thank you all once again. Jai Hind, Jai Karnataka," he said. .Justice Nadaf has been appointed to serve as an additional judge for two years. His appointment was cleared by the Central government on February 12, 2025, over two years after his elevation from the Bar as a judge was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium in January 2023. With his appointment today, the working strength of the High Court rose to 50 judges, as against a sanctioned strength of 62 judges, leaving 12 vacancies.
