Kerala Court denies anticipatory bail to passenger who allegedly misbehaved with film actress on flight

The Kerala Court recently denied anticipatory bail to a man accused of misbehaving with a Malayalam actress while traveling from Mumbai to Kochi on an Air India flight..Sessions judge Honey M Varghese opined that if bail is granted, a wrong message will be given to society in light of the alarming number of offences and atrocities against women and children.."As rightly pointed out by the Investigating officer, if bail is granted, in the light of alarming number of offences and atrocities against the women and children, that will give wrong message to the society. Having regard to the stage of the investigation, I am of the view that the petitioner is not entitled to get pre-arrest bail at this stage," the judge said. .The anticipatory bail plea was filed by one Anto CR (petitioner) who was accused of having misbehaved with an actress during a verbal spat over a seat on the flight. The actress had also alleged that Anto was drunk during the incident. .Anto denied the actresses' allegations, adding that he had mistakenly occupied a seat on the flight while under the impression that the seat had been booked by him and his friends. A heated argument is said to have arisen between Anto and the actress when she found the petitioner sitting on the said seat, which was actually allocated to her.In his anticipatory bail plea, Anto maintained that the issue was settled after the air hostess intervened and offered the actress another comfortable seat. He added that he was ready to move to the seat allocated to him as per the ticket.His anticipatory bail plea, however, has now been dismissed by an Ernakulam court through an October 20 order. .Anto was represented by advocates Rebin Vincent Gralan, Dinesh G Warrier and Mohammed Ibrahim Abdul Samad.The State government was represented by Public Prosecutor Manoj G Krishnan..[Read Order]
