The Kerala High Court Advocates' Association (KHCAA) in association with New Delhi-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Maithri, conducted a mental health awareness program for advocates on Wednesday..Justice Basant Balaji inaugurated the awareness campaign and Dr. CJ John, Chief Psychiatrist at Medical Trust Hospital delivered the keynote address.Justice Balaji said that having someone to talk to can help manage stress. He also noted that suicidal tendencies are becoming more common even among teenagers and adolescents.“Earlier children used to discuss problems with their parents. Now, parents don’t have time, similarly in matrimonial cases. Having a person to talk to will help deal with the stress. Dr. CJ John will give us steps to let go of stress,” added Justice Balaji..Justice Balaji also presented a memento to Dr. John..Dr. John also offered tips to lawyers to ensure that they are relaxed at their workplace..Advocate Litto Patathinkal, trustee of NGO Maithri encouraged lawyers to volunteer to help advocates who are going through stress. He added that adequate training would be provided for the same.The awareness program came to an end with a speech by advocate Sreehari Indukaladharan.
