10-year jail time for mass conversion, prior declaration necessary: Karnataka Anti-Conversion Bill explained

The Bill proposes that any unlawful conversion shall be punished with imprisonment for a term of three years which may extend to five years and a fine of ₹25,000.

The Karnataka Legislative Assembly has introduced the Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill, 2021, which prohibits unlawful conversion from one religion to another by misrepresentation, force, undue influence, coercion, allurement or by any fraudulent means.
