The Vice-Chancellor of the National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) has relieved Prof (Dr) GS Bajpai from his additional duties as the University's Registrar with immediate effect.

A notification to this effect was signed off by Vice-Chancellor Prof Srikrishna Deva Rao today, who had taken charge as the University's second Vice-Chancellor in September last year.

"The Vice Chancellor is pleased to relieve Prof (Dr.) GS Bajpai from the additional duties of Registrar with immediate effect," the notification said.

Speaking to Bar & Bench, Prof Bajpai said that the decision was taken in the normal course since he has reached the end of his tenure. He added that he will now be moving on to research and other projects.

The notification today also informed that the duties of the Registrar have now been entrusted to Prof (Dr) Anupama Goel, Professor of Law, in addition to her present duties, till further orders.

"During the period of holding the charge of the post of Registrar, the administrative, financial and statutory powers deleted to the Registrar, shall be exercised by her," the notification further said.

In February last year, the Delhi High Court had ruled that Prof Bajpai was duly qualified to serve as the Registrar of NLU Delhi, while disposing of a petition seeking his removal.

Dr. Bajpai was not available for comment at the time of publishing this story.
