Lawyers and college students got into a violent altercation near the premises of the Ernakulam District Court in Kerala in the early hours of April 11. .The incident has left several lawyers, students and police officers injured. At least two are reportedly in critical condition. The Ernakulam Bar Association (EBA) was holding its annual day event at the premises of its headquarters. On one side of the EBA building is the Ernakulam District Court complex, and on the other, is the Maharaja's college. .Students from Maharaja's crashing EBA events has been a long-standing tradition. However, this time, it led to a violent altercation on the main road in front of the three institutions. The students who trespassed this time were allegedly members of the Students' Federation of India (SFI). Lawyers were allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the row occurred. The police were called shortly after midnight, and around 20 individuals, including police officers, were injured.
