Anil Deshmukh document leak case: Delhi High Court dismisses bail pleas of SI, lawyer

The Delhi High Court has refused to grant bail to sub-inspector Abhishek Tiwari and lawyer Anand Daga in the alleged document leak case related to the ongoing probe against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh [Anand Dilip Daga, Abhishek Tiwari v. CBI]..Justice Yogesh Khanna noted that the allegation in the first information report (FIR) is rather based on tampering of evidence. “Thus considering the initial stage of investigation, I am not inclined to grant bail to the petitioners herein, at this stage,” held the Court.Tiwari and Daga were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on allegations that they were involved in leaking documents connected to the ongoing probe. The CBI has alleged that this was done in exchange for illegal gratification..Before the High Court, Tiwari contended that he was illegally terminated from service without any show-cause notice or hearing. It was his argument that the allegations in the FIR against him were absolutely sketchy and not plausible.Counsel for both petitioners argued that a Special CBI Court had only granted four days of custody and thereafter further remand was refused.
