Bombay High Court rejects plea seeking sedition FIR against State Election Commission for not holding local body polls
The Court said that since the Supreme Court had ordered Central and State governments to refrain from invoking Section 124A (sedition) of the Indian Penal Code, there was no question of such provision being invoked.
The Bombay High Court Wednesday rejected a petition filed by an individual seeking invocation of offence of sedition against the Maharashtra State Election Commission (MSEC) for failing to conduct local body elections in the State on time [Rohan Pawar v. State Election Commission, Maharashtra & Ors.].
