Fight against COVID takes centre-stage over other development work: Bombay High Court junks PIL against suspension of MPLAD scheme amid pandemic

The Court observed that Petitioner failed to show how the work supposed to be carried out under the MPLAD scheme was more important than tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bombay High Court recently dismissed a PIL challenging an April 2020 circular that had effectively suspended the release of funds from the Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) Scheme for a two-year period as part of the Centre's efforts to focus the diversion of funds for COVID-19 relief efforts.
