The Central Government has cleared the appointment of three new Chief Justices to helm the High Courts of Orissa, Telangana and Madras.
Dr. S Muralidhar has been appointed as the next Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court. Justice Muralidhar, whose parent High Court is Delhi, was transferred to Punjab & Haryana High Court in February 2020 where he is currently functioning as a puisne judge. Justice Muralidhar began his law practice in Chennai in 1984 before he shifted to Delhi in 1987. He became a judge of the Delhi High Court in 2006.
Justice Hima Kohli, a Judge of the Delhi High Court, has been elevated as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court. Justice Kohli enrolled at the Bar in 1984 and was appointed additional judge of Delhi High Court on 2006. She became a permanent judge in 2007.
Justice Sanjib Banerjee, a judge of the Calcutta High Court, has been appointed as the next Chief Justice of Madras High Court. Justice Banerjee enrolled as an advocate in the year 1990 and practiced mainly in Calcutta High Court. He was appointed permanent judge of that High Court in 2006.
