Centre clears appointment of Judicial Officer Vinai Kumar Dwivedi as Allahabad HC judge

The High Court is currently functioning with 105 judges as against its sanctioned strength of 160.

The Union government on Wednesday notified the appointment of judicial officer Vinai Kumar Dwivedi as a judge of the Allahabad High Court.

Union Minister of State (I/C) for Law & Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal in a post on X said,

"In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the President of India, after consultation with Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint Shri Vinai Kumar Dwivedi, Judicial Officer as a Judge of the Allahabad High Court. I convey my best wishes to him."

The development follows the Supreme Court Collegium's recommendation for Dwivedi's elevation on October 06.

The Central government had recently cleared the appointment of 24 new judges to the Allahabad High Court.

The High Court is currently functioning with 105 judges as against its sanctioned strength of 160.
