The Central government had cleared the appointment of Orissa High Court judge Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra as Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh..The appointment was announced on X by Union Minister of State for Law Arjun Ram Meghwal on Saturday night. .The recommendation was made at a Collegium meeting held on August 6 and was consequent upon the retirement of then Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha on September 4.Justice Mohapatra worked as Additional Standing Counsel for the State as well as the Orissa Public Service Commission, and served as advocate for entities including Central Cooperative Banks Limited (Keonjhar), the National Institute of Open Schooling under the Ministry of HRD, Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited, and Bank of Baroda. He was elevated as a judge of the Orissa High Court on April 17, 2015 where he has been serving till date.
