Common syllabus for Madrasas and Vedic schools: Delhi High Court issues notice to Centre in Ashwini Upadhyay plea

The petition has challenged Sections 1(4) and 1(5) of the RTE Act, which effectively allow Madrasas, Vedic schools and other institutions imparting religious instruction to have their own syllabus and curriculum.

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Union Ministries of Education, Law and Justice and Home Affairs in a plea demanding common curriculum for Madrasas and Vedic schools as per the Right to Education (RTE) Act [Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay v. Union of Indian and Ors].
