Delhi HC issues notice in appeal against dismissal of Mehul Choksi's plea for pre-screening of Netflix's "Bad Boy Billionaires"

The Delhi High Court today issued notice in Mehul Choksi's appeal against an order dismissing his petition seeking a pre-screening of Netflix's docu-series, Bad Boy Billionaires (Mehul Choksi vs UOI)..Notice to the Central Government and Netflix was issued by a Division Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan. .Delhi HC dismisses Mehul Choksi's plea for pre-screening of Netflix's "Bad Boy Billionaires".Appearing for Choksi, Advocate Vijay Aggarwal argued for the issue of preview to be remanded back to the Single Judge for a decision on merit. .It was submitted that the dismissal of the writ petition on account of Choksi aggitating his "private right" under Article 226 of the Constitution was erroneous. .Advocate Aggarwal contended that that the issue pertained to Choksi's Constitutional rights and, thus, the writ should not have been dismissed. .Appearing for Netflix, Senior Advocate Neeraj Kishan Kaul defended the order of the Single Judge and contended that no pre-screening could have been held..The Court was also informed that two individuals had obtained stay orders from courts in Bihar and Andhra Pradesh and that appeals were being filed before the concerned courts. .The two individuals are Ramalinga Raju and Subrata Sahara. ."You should not have come here": Supreme Court refuses to entertain plea by Netflix assailing order of Bihar court.Senior Advocate Dayan Krishnan also appeared for Netflix. .As Senior Advocate Kaul opposed the grant of any interim order, the Court said, ."We are not passing any interim order.".Last month, a Single Judge Bench had dimissed Mehul Choksi's writ petition on the ground that the same was not maintainable. .The Court had opined that the appropriate remedy in the matter was a civil suit. .Mehul Choksi moves Delhi HC against Netflix for Bad Boy Billionaires; seeks preview before release date.Choksi had moved the High Court alleging that the Netflix series had the propensity to prejudice the investigation and trial against him as it featured his nephew and co-accused in the PNB scam case, Nirav Modi..The matter would be heard next on September 23.
