The matter was heard by a Single Judge Bench of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait.
The Delhi High Court yesterday sought Delhi Police's response in a bail plea preferred by Pinjra tod activist Devangana Kalita in connection with a Delhi riots case against her.
The order was passed by a Single Judge Bench of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait.
Kalita is an accused in as many as four FIRs pertaining to the anti-CAA protests and Delhi riots. The present bail plea has been moved in FIR No. 50/2020 registered at PS Jafrabad for Delhi riots.
She's presently in judicial custody in Tihar Jail after she was arrested in May 2020.
In June 2020, Kalita's bail plea in the present case was rejected by the Trial Court.
Chargesheet in the FIR has been filed against certain accused persons, however, investigation qua Kalita is still continuing.
Last month, the Court had restrained the Delhi Police from issuing statements and communications naming Kalita in relation to the present case till the commencement of trial against her.
Kalita's plea seeking a court-monitored investigation in a Delhi riots case was dismissed by the Additional Sessions Judge last month.
Kalita was represented by Advocate Adit Pujari, Kriti Awasthi and Tusharika Mattoo.
The matter would be heard next on August 14.
