Delhi High Court seeks clarification on release details of Nyay: The Justice, based on Sushant Singh Rajput

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought clarification as to whether or not the film Nyay: The Justice, based on the life of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, had been released on OTT platforms on June 11 [Krishna Kishore Singh v. Sarla A Saraogi]..The vacation bench of Justices Anup Jairam Bhambhani and Jasmeet Singh sought the same on receiving contradictory claims as regards the release of the film..The Court thus ordered,"At the outset, learned counsel appearing on behalf of R1, 2 and 3 submit that they're on caveat and haven't been served with copies of the appeal. May the same be supplied to them.Another query has been raised as to whether or not the film has been released as scheduled on June 11, 2021 on OTT platforms. Senior Advocate Chander Lall on behalf of R3 submits that it has. Meanwhile, Senior Advocate Jayant Mehta appearing for the appellant says his instructions are contrary. Senior Advocate Harish Salve also for the appellant suggests clarifying this. This movie also infringes the Right to Privacy and Right to a Fair Trial.".In response to this, Justice Bhambhani raised a preliminary query,"You came seeking a stay on the release of the film which was to be released on OTT. From June 11-23rd all this has passed. Suppose we disagree with the judgment in case the movie has already released. What would we do then? Unrelease the movie? Can the bell now be unrung?".Finally, owing to the disputed claims made about the release of the film, the Court gave more time to the parties to obtain instructions and further clarifications.The matter will be heard next on June 25..Apart from Mehta, Senior Advocate Harish Salve appeared for Rajput's father.
