Delhi High Court seeks response from Central government, ICAI in challenge to Chartered Accountants Act provisions

The provisions have been challenged on the ground that they punish the firm and its unrelated and innocent partners who may not even be privy to or aware of the alleged misconduct of a member.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued notice in a plea challenging the constitutional validity of recent amendments to the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 [Venugopal Swami B v. Union of India and Ors].
