Delhi riots: HC directs Police to publish details of unidentified dead bodies in hospital mortuaries on official website

The Delhi High Court has ordered the Delhi Police to publish the details of all the unidentified dead bodies that are lying in various hospital mortuaries following the riots in the north-east area of the city, along with photographs, on their official website.(Ansari vs State).The order passed by a Division Bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and IS Mehta reads states,.The Delhi Police is also directed to publish the details of all the unidentified dead bodies that are lying in the various hospital mortuaries-both under the control of the Central Government as well as that of Govt. of NCT of Delhi- along with their photographs and other details, including the specifics of the post-mortem conducted thereon as also the DNA samples preserved; on their official website forthwithDelhi High Court.The order dated March 5 was passed in a habeas corpus petition preferred by one Ansari Mo Arif concerning the disappearance of one Hamza..Delhi riots: HC directs preservation of DNA samples of dead, videographed post-mortem; Hospitals to not dispose of unidentified bodies.Following the High Court's direction, the DCP, North East, Delhi Police subsequently filed a status report in the case and informed that the body of Hamza was recovered from a drain within the jurisdiction of Gokalpuri Police Station. .It was further informed that subsequently, an FIR has been registered against unknown persons under Sections 147/148/149/302/201 IPC and investigation was underway..On March 6, the Court further ordered the preservation of the DNA samples of those dead bodies in the mortuaries following the riots.
