Doctor Vandana Das death: Kerala High Court seeks State response in parents' plea for CBI probe

A plea has been moved before the Kerala High Court by the parents of 23-year-old house surgeon, Dr. Vandana Das, seeking to transfer the investigation into her murder to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) [KG Mohandas & Ors. v Central Bureau of Investigation & Ors.].Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas issued notice and sought responses from the State government, the CBI, and other concerned authorities on October 6. .In the early hours of May 10, Dr. Das was stabbed to death by a school teacher named Sandeep who had been brought to the hospital for medical examination by the police after he was injured in a brawl..The plea moved by the doctor's parents alleged that the police officers have been investigating the case in a very lackadaisical and apathetic manner so that they can wash their hands of any responsibility and hide their own security lapses..“In fact, in an attempt to whitewash the acts of police officials involved, the ADGP has even given a statement claiming that the said Sandeep was actually a complainant and that he was brought to the hospital to dress his wounds. It is however apposite to note that the records of Vijaya Hospital would clearly showcase Sandeep as an accused.
