Excise department cannot cancel license of liquor vend on basis of public sentiment: Delhi High Court

The Court dismissed the Excise Department's challenge to a 2019 order passed by the Financial Commissioner which restored the liquor license of the owners of 2 Bandits, a bar located in South Delhi.

The Delhi High Court recently held that a license granted to a liquor vend under the Delhi Excise Act, 2009 cannot be cancelled merely on the basis of 'public sentiment' with regard to its location (Deputy Commissioner Excise v. M/S 2 Bandits Restaurant).
