Jammu and Kashmir High Court Judges resolve to create welfare fund for those affected from Coronavirus

The High Court has resolved to create a fund that will be utilized for those who are affected by the outbreak of the virus.

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court held a meeting today through video conferencing which included the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Justice Gita Mittal and six other judges of the High Court to discuss further steps for prevention of spread of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Keeping in view the prohibitions and impact of the outbreak, the High Court has resolved to effect the collection of funds to be utilized for the welfare of the victims.

Accordingly, it has been decided that contributions shall be made in the following manner:-

  • The Chief Justice and all Judges of the High Court may make a contribution of Rs. 25,000 each

  • All District Judges of the state may contribute Rs. 15,000 each

  • All Sub-Judges /Civil Judges (Senior Division) may contribute Rs. 10,000 each

  • All Munsiffs/Civil Judges (Junior Division) may contribute Rs. 7500 each

  • All the Gazetted officers of the High Court and Gazetted Staff of the

    Subordinate Courts may contribute Rs.5000

  • All Non-gazetted staff of the High Court and Subordinate Courts may contribute one day’s salary

It has further been resolved that Registrars (Judicial) of both the Wings of the High Court shall credit the funds in the Bank Account opened for the purpose under intimation to the Registrar General.

The Principal District and Sessions Judges have been asked to do the same and intimate the Registrar General after doing so.
