Jammu & Kashmir High Court seeks status report on implementation of Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act

NGO, Young Lawyers Forum, moved a PIL highlighting that the Right to Education Act is yet to be implemented in Jammu & Kashmir, despite the law having been made applicable to the Union Territory for over three years.

The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh recently directed the government of Jammu and Kashmir to file a status report on the steps taken to implement the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 (RTE Act) in the Union Territory [Young Lawyers Forum V/s UT of J&K & Ors.].
