Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Banerjee, asked Justice Chanda to decide on his recusal on the judicial side, even as a recusal application filed on the administrative side remains pending.

Justice Kausik Chanda of the Calcutta High Court today apprehended that he would be giving in to a "media trial" if he recuses from hearing the case filed by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee challenging the election result of the Nandigram constituency in the 2021 assembly elections.
