The Central government on Monday notified the appointment of Justice Puthichira Sam Koshy as the Acting Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.

A notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice stated that the President made the appointment in exercise of the power conferred under Article 223 of the Constitution of India.

Justice Koshy's appointment comes following the elevation of the incumbent Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India.

The notification stated that Justice Koshy will assume charge of the office from the date Justice Singh relinquishes charge to take oath at the apex court.

Justice Koshy was appointed as an additional judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court in September 2013 and made a permanent judge in March 2016, before being transferred to the Telangana High Court in 2023.
