Karnataka High Court calls for immediate steps to appoint judge to designated special court to deal with 56 pending cases under UAPA

The Court passed the order after a report was furnished by Registrar General apprising that out of the 4 courts dealing with UAPA cases, 2 are vacant and concurrent charge is being held by the other judicial officers.

The Karnataka High Court has urged its registry to take immediate steps to appoint a judicial officer to the designated special court which hears cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA), so that fifty-six cases pending under UAPA in Bengaluru Urban District can be transferred to the special court.
