Th eight persons were also given Cabinet Minister rank by the Karnataka government which has been challenged as unconstitutional.

The Karnataka High Court has sought the response of the State Government in a public interest litigation (PIL) petition challenging the appointment of eight persons as advisors to Chief Minister, BS Yediyurappa and conferring them the status of Cabinet Minister.
