Madras HC directs Government to consider representation by SOEL students against levy of fee for unused facilities amid COVID-19

In the interim order passed on Wednesday, the Court has also directed the students to pay the first instalment of the tuition fee as well as fees for the College's AIR Cafe by October 12.

Expressing reservations about the powers of the Court in matters concerning fee fixation, the Madras High Court yesterday directed the State Government to consider a representation made by students of the School of Excellence in Law (SOEL) against the levy of fees for college facilities not in use amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Court has also asked the students to pay the first installment of the tuition fee demanded by the college as per an August 29 circular and to pay the "AIR Cafe" fee by October 12.
