Madras High Court stays order directing Madras Bar Association to pay ₹5 lakh compensation for discriminating against non-member

A single-judge had earlier directed MBA to pay ₹5 lakh compensation after a lawyer was prevented by another lawyer from drinking water from MBA's office premises on the ground that the former was not a member of the MBA.

A division bench of the Madras High Court Monday stayed a single judge’s order that had directed the Madras Bar Association (MBA) to pay a compensation of ₹5 lakh after a lawyer was prevented by another lawyer from drinking water from MBA's office premises on the ground that the former was not a member of the MBA.
