[Members Shortage] Only urgent matters to be taken up via video conferencing in all NCLT benches

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on Monday ordered that, only urgent matters will be taken up via video conferencing with effect from August 10, 2022, in all NCLT benches due to shortage of members till further orders.

The Registrar-in-charge Kamal Sultani in order dated August 8 stated that, situation was currently being met by members taking up multiple benches through video conferencing.

"There is a shortage of Hon'ble Members throughout the National Company Law Tribunal Benches that is amplified further with Hon'ble Members seeking leave on account of health and personal reasons," the order reads.

"It has been decided to take up only urgent matters through VC w.e.f. 10.08.2022 at all NCLT Benches till further orders," reads order.

The order further stated that the same was decided with the approval of President, NCLT.

At present there are 16 benches of NCLT all over India.

In August 2020, the Supreme Court had pulled up the Central government over delays in filling up vacancies in various tribunals across the country.
