Period of emergency parole granted during COVID-19 will not be part of actual sentence: Supreme Court

The Bench referred to a recent judgment of the Supreme Court which said that for the purpose of considering actual imprisonment, period of parole is to be excluded.

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed an application by a convict seeking consideration of parole granted during the COVID-19 pandemic to be counted as part of his actual sentence since the same was involuntary. (Anil Kumar vs State of Haryana and ors)
