Registering FIR necessary to issue summons under Section 160 CrPC: Delhi High Court quashes summons to Frankfinn founder

Justice Chandra Dhari Singh has said that police cannot be said to be conducting investigation under the CrPC without registration of an FIR.

The Delhi High Court has held that registration of a First Information Report (FIR) is necessary to issue notices/summons under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) requiring attendance of a person. [Kulvinder Singh Kohli v State of NCT of Delhi and Ors].
