Hathras Case: SC hears PILs seeking independent and monitored probe, witness protection etc. [LIVE UPDATES]

The Supreme Court is hearing a batch of petitions in relation to the Hathras incident today.

A Bench of Chief Justice of India SA Bobde, Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian is hearing the matter.

On October 6, the Court asked the State of Uttar Pradesh to place on record the steps taken by it with respect to providing witness protection to the family of the victim. The Court had also taken note of a submission that was made during the hearing which claimed that lawyers were soliciting their services which also led the Court to seek reply on whether or not the family has chosen its legal representatives.
