Supreme Court Collegium recommends appointment of 5 new judges to Rajasthan High Court

The collegium recommended the names of four lawyers and one judicial officer for elevation to the Rajasthan High Court.

The Supreme Court collegium has recommended the appointment of four lawyers and one judicial officer as judges of the Rajasthan High Court

The decision as regards the four lawyers was taken in a Collegium meeting held on October 6 while the name of the judicial officer was recommended in the collegium meeting held on October 8.

The four lawyers recommended are:

1. Kuldeep Mathur

2. Maneesh Sharma

3. Rekha Borana

4. Sameer Jain

The judicial officer recommended is Shubha Mehta.

The Rajasthan High Court has a sanctioned strength of 50 judges but it currently has only 23 judges as on October 1, a vacancy percentage of more than 50 percent.
