Exclusion of Transgender persons from reservation in Joint CSIR-UGC NET Exam unacceptable, violative of Articles 14 and 21: Calcutta High Court

"It is palpably clear that there is no rhyme or reason for there being no reservation, age relaxation and fee concession for the transgender community in the Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examination", the Court said.

The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday directed that reservation, age relaxation and fee concession must be implemented immediately for the category of transgender candidates, along with the other reserved categories, for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examinations at all levels (Sumana Pramanik @ Suman Pramanik Vs.The Union of India & Ors.).
