Why are Central Government Industrial Tribunal orders not available on website? Delhi High Court seeks response

The Delhi High Court recently questioned why orders and case information pertaining to the Central Government Industrial Tribunal (CGIT) were not available on its website [Pooja Saroj v. Ministry of Labour and Employment Govt of India and ors]..Justice Prathiba M Singh was informed that an order calling for timely uploading of orders of the tribunal was passed in 2021, but has not been complied with till date. "In view of the submissions made before the Court today, this Court is of the prima facie view that the directions given in the aforementioned order by this Court have not been given effect to by the CGIT. Therefore, an explanation is due from the Registrar, CGIT," the Court stated..The earlier High Court order had stated that all orders of labour courts and the CGIT ought to be uploaded on the respective websites within 48 hours of being passed..In the instant case, the Court noted that on accessing the respective websites of the labour courts and the CGIT, data relating to the former are accessible on the eCourts India website. However, information on CGIT cases was not. Justice Singh thus called for a status report on the appointments and number of benches which are currently functioning at the CGIT. The report shall also contain the following details:(i) Staffing in the CGIT; whether any further staff and infrastructure is required to handle the current backlog of cases;(ii) Whether the Central government has contemplated integration of CGIT website with eCourts India website/NJDG and whether there are any proposals to this effect, which are pending;(iii) The timeline within which all the data relating to the pendency before the CGIT, order sheets and judgments of the CGIT are to be uploaded on its own website..The High Court directed the CGIT Registrar to place an affidavit detailing the steps taken by it to implement the directions regarding timely uploading of orders, and the reasons for delay in the implementation of the same.
