Man attempts to slit wrist in Kerala High Court after girlfriend decides to go with parents in habeas corpus case

A young man slit his wrist inside Kerala High Court on Monday after a woman, who he claimed was his girlfriend, decided to go with her parents in a Habeas Corpus case..Sources confirmed to Bar & Bench that the incident occurred outside the chambers of Justice Anu Sivaraman after the man was forced to split with the girl following her decision to leave with her father. .The man and woman had allegedly been residing together for around a month when the woman's father filed a habeas corpus petition alleging that she was being detained illegally. A division bench of Justices Anu Sivaraman and C Jayachandran heard the matter and the parties involved.The woman told the bench that she had no feelings for the man apart from "brotherly affection" and she stayed with him only because he had threatened to commit suicide unless she lived with him. She also confirmed to the bench that the man was married to another woman and had told her that his relationship with his wife was estranged.She then told the judges that she wished to go with her parents. The bench recorded the same and allowed her father's petition. The hearing occurred in Justice Sivaraman's chambers and as soon as the man exited the judge's chambers, he took out a knife and cut his own wrists. According to sources, the man even attempted to slit his throat but police officials intervened and stopped the man from harming himself any further.
